How to Use The Vault
Overview
The Vault page displays three live panels side by side: Theme Tracker, Screeners, and Forward Testing. Data refreshes automatically every 5 minutes.
Theme Tracker
- Tabs — Switch between theme views using the tabs at the top of the panel.
- Filter — Type in the filter bar to search across all visible columns.
- Sort — Click any column header to sort. Click again to reverse. Hold Shift and click to add a secondary sort.
- Columns — Click the gear icon to show/hide columns.
- Presets — Click the star icon to save or load filter presets.
- Expand Row — Click any row to see all fields in a detail modal.
Screeners
- Earnings / Gaps / Afters — Switch between screener tabs to view different scans.
- Filter — Type a ticker symbol in the filter bar to quickly find a stock.
- Sorting, column visibility, and presets work the same as Theme Tracker.
Forward Testing
- Tracks forward-tested trade setups with live data.
- Same sorting, filtering, and column controls as the other panels.
Header Tools
- Search — Enter a ticker in the search bar to look up detailed stock info (price, sector, theme rankings).
- Chart — Opens a floating TradingView chart window. Search for any symbol.
- Calendar — Opens the upcoming earnings calendar.
- Resize Panels — Drag the handles between panels to adjust widths.
Color Formatting
- Green / Red — Positive values are green, negative values are red (default for most numeric columns).
- ADR — ≥5% green, 3–5% yellow, <3% red.
- Market Cap (M) — 41–9,999 green (small/mid), ≤40 or >10,000 red (micro or mega).
- Float (M) — ≤100 green, 100–199 yellow, ≥200 red.
- Inst. Ownership — ≤50% green, 50–90% yellow, >90% red.
- Short % — <30% green, ≥30% red.
- Theme Rankings — 1–5 green, 6–15 yellow, 16+ red. Negative = red (dropped off).
- Win Rate — ≥60% green, 40–59% yellow, <40% red.
- Row Highlights — Green row = all key columns positive. Blue row = 3+ positive columns with a blue-chip keyword.
Build a short list
Add up to ten entries: tickers, pasted several at a time, or the names from your Home and Workspace watchlists. Pick a theme, industry or sector and the bench fills with its stocks, the ten largest by market cap, one line each. Choose As one line instead to add the whole group as an equal-weight index next to individual names. The set follows your member account.
Read the chart
- Every line starts at 0% using its first available close in the selected window.
- Change the horizon without waiting for another data request; the bench keeps one year of daily bars in memory.
- The legend and return rows use the same closes, so the figures agree with the chart.
Inspect a name
Click a ticker heading, chart legend, or symbol chip to open the existing company detail view. Remove a symbol with the × on its chip.
Your research notebook
Journal is a private word processor inside the Vault. Documents are saved to your member account as you type, so they follow you between browsers and devices.
Writing
- + Entry starts a blank page with the caret in the title; the arrow beside it offers templates. A blank entry you leave without writing in is removed again.
- Type
#,##or###then a space for a heading,-for a list,1.for a numbered one,>for a quote,---for a divider. - Template hints are placeholders: type over one and it is replaced. Clear hints removes whatever is left.
- Enter on the empty last line of a quote or callout steps out of it. Tab moves between table cells and adds a row at the end; the bar above a table adds or removes rows and columns.
- Backspace under a chart or card selects it; press again to remove it.
- Type
/on an empty line for the insert menu: headings, lists, callouts, tables, chart slots, images, links. - Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y undo and redo every change, including inserted cards, table edits and replaced hints.
- Hover an entry in the list to rename or delete it; double-click renames. Delete offers Undo.
- Select text for highlight, colour, inline code, small text, superscript, subscript and alignment in the toolbar. Ctrl+E is inline code, Ctrl+Shift+H highlight; press again to remove.
- Leave the title empty and the entry is named after its first heading or line, until you type one.
- Type
[ ]then a space for a checkbox; click the box to tick it. Click a link to open, edit or unlink it; paste a URL over selected text to link it. - Ctrl+K jumps to any entry by name, ticker or text, or creates one from what you typed. Hover an entry for Duplicate, which copies its charts too.
- Hover an entry and press ☆ to pin it to the top of the list. Trash, at the foot of the list, restores anything deleted in the last 30 days.
- Outline appears once an entry has two or more headings and jumps between them. Ctrl+click a
$TICKERin the page to open its detail.
Charts
- Click DB Charts, search a ticker, and choose Chart on any historical database row. Preview Daily, 1M or 5M bars, then insert the chart directly into the open write-up.
- Charts elsewhere in the Vault also have a capture action that adds the current view to a document you choose.
- Click a chart inside a document to resize it, add or remove its caption, or remove it.
- Paste or drop any image straight into the page.
DB Charts drawer
- Type a ticker to pull its rows from the gap database.
- Insert a catalyst card, press-release headline, transcript commentary, or the existing stats table at the cursor.
- Choose Fields to search and select any other values on that database row, including liquidity, earnings, follow-through, analyst actions, and trade-study results.
- Recent chart captures are listed there too, ready to place again.
Organize and export
- Drag documents onto folders, or use the folder menu above the page. Folders can nest with a slash: Biotech/Phase 3.
- Export as a printable page (save it as PDF from the print dialog), a single HTML file, or a zip bundle with the chart images.
- If the connection drops, a draft is kept in this browser and offered back the next time the document opens.
Share and learn
- Share publishes a document read-only to signed-in members by link. You keep editing; readers see your latest save. Unpublishing kills the link.
- Tick List in the community library and it appears under the Community tab, searchable by title, ticker and author.
- Readers can copy a published study into their own Journal, charts included, and build on it.
Overview
The Database page has two views: Gap Database (28,000+ historical gap entries) and Runners (historical scan backtests with charts).
Searching
- Quick filters — Use the Ticker and Catalyst fields above the table for fast substring searches, or use the per-column filter row for advanced queries.
- Filters are required — Apply at least one filter before clicking Search. This keeps queries fast.
- Text filters — Type in the filter row below any column header to filter by substring (case-insensitive).
- Dropdown filters — Columns like Catalyst, Sector, Industry, and Exchange have multi-select dropdowns. Click to open, check the values you want, then Search.
- Numeric conditions — For number columns, use the operator dropdown (
=,>,>=,<,<=) and enter a value. - Clear Filters — Resets all filters and clears the results.
Results
- Averages Row — When results appear, a blue averages row shows the mean of each numeric column.
- Sort — Click any column header to sort results. The active column shows a ▲ or ▼ arrow. Click again to reverse.
- Frozen Columns — Ticker and Gap Date stay pinned on the left as you scroll horizontally.
- Column Groups — Use the buttons in the top-right (ORB, MOO, Earnings, etc.) to toggle groups of columns on or off.
Charts & Text
- Chart icon — Click the chart icon next to any ticker to open a chart modal with Daily, Static, 1M, and 5M views. The daily chart shows ~2.5 years of history with four moving averages at 10, 20, 50 and 200; the gap day is marked with an arrow. The button beside them cycles how they are averaged — MA MIX is the default (10/20 exponential, 50/200 simple), and EMA or SMA forces all four one way. The choice is remembered and applies to every chart in the vault.
- Press Release / Transcript — Cells showing "[Click to load]" will open the full text in a modal when clicked.
Color Formatting
- Green / Red — Positive values are green, negative values are red across all Results, ORB, and MOO columns.
- Averages Row — Displayed in blue and pinned below the filter row.
- Column Groups — Each group (Information, Characteristics, Results, etc.) has a subtle colored header tint for visual separation.
- Column Tooltips — Hover over any column header to see a description of what the column measures.
Tips
- Results are paginated at 200 rows per page. Narrow your filters if you need specific data.
- The database syncs from Google Sheets every 30 minutes. Data is historical and updates daily at most.
